This
is the age of tech savvy car thieves. This means that the regular alarm system
installed in your car won’t cut it anymore. I am not saying that there is
anything wrong with an alarm system. They are great for attraction attention
and at scaring off car thieves. But car
alarms are also easy to disable. Even an amateur car thief equipped with a
simple wire cutter can easily steal your car. All they need to do is cut power
to the alarm system, which restores power to the car’s ignition and voilà, the
system is disabled.
Let
us be honest here, nothing guarantees that your car won't be stolen, even if
you have a military grade vehicle alarm/security system. What you can do is
improve our odds by installing a vehicle anti-theft system, also known as an
immobilizer. A vehicle secured with an immobilizer system will be less
appealing to car thieves.
What is Smart Cop?
Delta
Smart Cop is a vehicle immobilizer, which is different from alarm systems. It
is an electronic gadget that’s fitted into your car and prevents the engine
from starting unless an authorized key or a smart key (in case of a keyless
entry system) is present. Smart Cop is small in size, which effectively enables
it to be concealed inside your vehicle.
How does Smart Cop work?
The
inner workings of Smart Cop are very interesting. The manufacturers won’t tell
you everything, but here is what we do know. It has built in microchips that send
signals to the ignition and fuel-pump systems. What the system does is, that it
disables parts of your car that are absolutely crucial for startup, this
includes the ignition system and the fuel pump. I hope you can imagine that
starting a car without the ignition system working is nearly impossible.
Why should you get it?
The question in not
‘why’ it is why not? Smart Cop is more
effective than those alarm blaring security systems. It is silent but deadly.
Hot wiring a car, with
this system installed, is not possible.
Another plus point is
that Smart Cop is very easy to install. It comes with clear and easy to
understand instructions on how to wire it into your vehicle along with
diagrams.
